Shared Instrumentation Laboratory

Overview of Services

The Shared Instrumentation Laboratory (SIL) within the UNR Department of Chemistry is an instrumentation resource primarily for university students and faculty. Undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral students can receive training and operate the instruments on a day-to-day basis. Researchers wishing to use the instruments should submit a training request through iLab. Non-University affiliated entities can use the SIL instruments after training on a per-fee basis after setting up a Facility and Equipment Use Agreement with the Nevada Center for Applied Research. Users must provide necessary consumables and supplies to analyze their samples, including gloves, sample vials, and specialty items depending on the instrument used such as columns and syringes, unless already available in the SIL.
